Dear Parents,
Welcome Back!! I hope you and your family had a great summer break! I had a fabulous time visiting cities in Italy, France and Spain on our cruise in July!
This school year brings some great changes to Solomon School. We are excited to begin another year of learning!
I will continue to work with students in room 118 and will be teaching Pull – Out English Language Arts / Reading in the afternoon and I will be working with 7th & 8th graders during Inclusion Math with Ms. Guerra in 118. I will continue to monitor IEP’s and assist students in the inclusion classes as well as working with 3rd grade first period.
A few bits of important information:
v School Hours – our hours are from 9:00 - 4:00 this year.
v Uniforms – the uniform policy is still in place: White or blue shirts, black or blue pants. Jeans (no rips) are allowed. On gym days, students are required to come to school dressed for gym class; there will be no time for changing. Knee-length shorts are permitted in warm weather. In colder weather, solid blue sweaters or sweatshirts are allowed. No hoodies are permitted. Solomon School T-Shirts, Sweatpants and Sweatshirts can be purchased from the office.
v Agendas – Color Coded Folders – Students will be given a planner/agenda/assignment book for use daily. Middle School Students are expected to bring the necessary color-coded folders and spiral notebooks to class each day. If you do not have the necessary folders, check with the office, they may have the plastic coated ones for purchase. Also please see the attached Supply List for Room 116 and purchase any additional supplies needed. Students are expected to be responsible for keeping up with their assignments, homework and materials. Please frequently check your child’s assignment book and sign it regularly. This is one way you and I can communicate about the needs of your student.
v Daily Schedule – Our daily schedule has changed since last year. 6th – 8th grades will be having specials after lunch. This will change the Resource Language Arts schedule as well. I will be working with students as per their homeroom schedules, from 2:00 - 4:00. Please see the schedules in the student agenda pocket of the planner.
If there are any questions, please feel free to call me. I am usually here at school by 8:15 and can speak with you before or after school.
Sincerely,
Sheri Chazdon
